The greatest advert for living a healthy life ever made

Once again, I've gone months and months without posting a topic. As an aside this could possibly have been because I was heavily involved in the small matter of a referendum (and no, it wasn't on whether to adopt 500 Miles as Scotland's national anthem or not) and simply didn't have the time to post anything at all. Bleh, at least it's over, that's all I'm saying.

Anyway, back to the topic. Yesterday I saw what is without doubt the greatest series of adverts I have ever seen to convince overweight people that it is time to ditch the pies and cokes and start living a more healthy, active lifestyle.

What is it, you may ask? A Government advert on health? An inspirational post from a former fattie-turned-fittie? Mr Motivator dramatically returning to kick some more ass with his workout sessions (Google the guy, he's a '90s UK legend)? Well, no. The award goes to...

This guy, who goes by the YouTube moniker JoeysWorldTour.

Joey likes to call himself a food critic. In a nutshell:

-He posts a new video every few days of him sitting in his car "reviewing" (i.e., stuffing his face with) fast food.

-His tour is not a world tour, it is not a national tour, it is possibly not even a state tour. All Joey seems to do is eat fast food from restaurants within driving distance of his man cave.

-He does all this while making stupid manchild noises. He has evidently never grown up.

-It doesn't matter what he is reviewing. It could be a burger, a pizza, a taco, whatever - they all get rave reviews. The only time at least to my knowledge that he gave something a bad review was when Wendy's had the audacity to not include gouda cheese in his burger.

-He has fans who speak out against "haters", many of whom are quite rightly pointing out that if he keeps this farce going, he will be heading to an early grave.

Yes, he is annoying and yes, watching him eat is frankly repulsive. There's even a video of him eating a quadruple down KFC meal where he does his silly Ric Flair-style "woo!" noise to try and pathetically cover up a fart.

But this is important to watch. It's educational and an eye-opener to what happens if you truly let yourself go. This isn't a case like Adam Richman, the presenter of Man vs Food, who exercised regularly to compensate for the huge volumes of food he often ate in the restaurant challenges he participated in. Professional food eaters, for lack of a better phrase, are very aware of the health risks linked to high consumption of food and know what they have to do to at least balance the scale so that it doesn't impact their health.

Joey, it appears, is either oblivious to, or refuses to face the reality of, his situation. He is, without doubt, morbidly obese. He has no shame either, as you can see if you watch his earlier videos where he participates in his self-made food challenges and in one case tries to devour an entire tub of Nutella chocolate spread. Even some of his fans plead with him to change his ways or at least give his videos a break to focus on getting his health back on track. And his response? To mock them in silly voices during his reviews. No problem, Joey.

Even if you're in somewhat healthy shape but keep thinking "man, I can do with losing a bit of weight", then I welcome you to watch his videos. The only positive legacy that can come from Joey's videos is that it inspired millions of people around the world to look after themselves that bit better.
